beige car comes home
After a thorough degreasing of the engine bay and a good exterior
wash or three, the car rolls into the shop.
Step one, remove the gas tank and put a good one in! The old
tank was not rusted out but the pickup tube was blocked solid full of crap.
In the meantime, I clean up the interior and dig up some better
carpet and seats. The passenger front seat will do but I need to scrounge
through my brown collection for some good back seats and a driver's seat
bottom.
It is too bad that this car was repainted in the winter way
back when, the paint job otherwise was of very high quality but it just
flaked off after a year or so according to its previous owner. The dust
and dirt really preserved the car while it sat inside during the intervening
years.
The clutch hydraulics were bad, so I swapped in another set,
already bled and ready to go. Unfortunately the clutch is frozen, and hopefully
I can break it free or the motor will have to come out. Sigh!
