FOR SALE (SOLD, 2000)
Richard Cobun's '67 Sonett II, #218
Richard says:
"It is currently
as shown in the photos, newer mechanicals and rebuilt engine. it hasn't
been started in 2 years and needs the fuel drained, filters changed, a battery
and such to operate. The engine was fogged when put to bed and the engine
turns easily by hand. I'm the 3rd owner. the first bought it from a local
dealership and subsequently sold it to the salesman he bought it from. The
salesman became the general manager of the dealership and the car has been
stored inside all it's life and had been relegated to fair weather operation
and exhibit use by the dealership after it's first year as a toy by the
original dealer. The chassis has 56k miles on it. the dealership had replaced
rubber components, interior, seats, steering wheel, and other things from
the
close out stock from Saab. I replaced brakes, ignition system wires and
components and all the NOS stuff I could get my hands on at conventions
and meets. The changes from stock were a suitably monstrous intake filter,
the exhaust with the race homolation 2" dia. by 6' "organ pipe"
modification, and the cooling fan with a new unit mounted on a stone shield
fabricated from expanded metal ( it uses the original temp. gauge and fan
controls.) The car comes with 2 engine spares ( one 850 suitable for a 940
overbore, one assembled free but internals not inspected.) I also have a
new clutch disc, pressure plate, electrical components specific to the Sonett
II, and assorted other "stuff." It also comes with an enlarged
photo copy of the owners manual, the race and rallye parts book, rallye
homolagation sheets, and factory parts and service manuals that cover strokers
and V4's."
