1992 Cadillac Fleetwood Sedan
Just over 78,000 Original Miles - Two Adult Owners - Cadillac Dealer Maintained
Almost always garage kept throughout its entire lifespan (always by me).

Purchased by me from the estate of the original owner in early 2007 when it had 67,300 miles, this 1992 Fleetwood was always dealer-maintained in its original home states of Georgia and Florida by one old man owner. Just before it changed hands to me, the dealer did a full tuneup, fluids, filters, brakes and a new ABS & Traction Control unit - likely a repair worth over $3,000.

On my way home from Florida with the car, I lost an old Michelin on the rear and put four new Good-Year Regattas on which now have just over 10,000 miles and are good for at least another 50-60k. The car drives beautifully down the road, almost like a new one - and I drove a few of these then as well.

The car is very straight save for a few inevitable door dings and a slight crack in the top of the right-front fender (plastic on this model) where someone leaned on it while working on the car. I have partially repaired this so that it does not grow. As you can see, the original paint and chrome still shine.

Among other repairs, I put a new Hirschmann antenna in this car when the original Delco unit failed. Whatever this car has needed in my ownership it has gotten - from regular oil changes to a new Delco water pump to rebuilt Bose speakers for the doors and rear shelf. I have relied on this car for long highway trips for the last two years (I am a collector automobile journalist and speaker) and all but guarantee that this car will serve its new owner well for many more thousands of miles. In the last six months, the car made two round-trips to Pennsylvania, one to Hilton Head, SC and various day trips to the D.C. area without a hiccup to cover collector automobile events for Sports Car Market magazine.

The interior of the Fleetwood sedan is sumptuous and comfortable. The driver's seatback has one small flaw by a button where the leather has pulled away, but the carpets, dash and everything else are free from flaws of any kind.

The Delco-Bose stereo/CD player works flawlessly as does all other electronics from climate to trip computer to digital speedometer and odometer. These cars feature advanced diagnostics accessed through the climate control system - I will provide the winning bidder with a factory service manual should you ever get a code or just as a reference guide to keeping up with service on your car.

The rear compartment features similarly sumptuous seats and vanity mirrors in the headliner (by the way, the headliner was replaced in March of 2007 and done very well) along with more legroom than the standard Sedan deVille on this platform.

Here's a neat shot, wish I had gotten up to 77 miles per hour, but this was not long ago and shows all the instruments in perfect working order.

The heart of the beast - the Cadillac 4.9L V-8 engine - it runs beautifully, the transmission shifts just as well and everything works including ice-cold air conditioning.

Another shot of the side of the engine, I replaced the tensioner and idler pulleys when I changed the water pump at about 70,000 miles. I have all records of work I did to the car during my ownership. Whatever this car needed, it got. It drives fabulously with its adaptive electronic suspension and the rear level-ride works perfectly too - in fact, about this time last year, I hauled two small sports car engines in the trunk back from Atlantic City, NJ on a whirlwind trip up for the auctions.

why am I selling?

I like to change my highway car out every couple years - it keeps life interesting. I just bought another sedan to run for a couple years and I thought this exceptionally-well-maintained front-wheel-drive Fleetwood would appeal to a Cadillac enthusiast or just someone looking for a great car to use daily. I have a lot of cars in my stable of collector and daily-driven cars, but if I had to have just one, it would be a car like this - super reliable well-built American luxury that never goes out of style. The 1989-93 DeVille and small Fleetwoods were some of the best cars built by GM in recent memory.

I urge you if you are local to drop in and drive this car, check it out, it will not disappoint. If you are not local, I urge you to bid to own, fly in and drive home - anywhere - it will be a nice trip for you and a great car for you to keep up for many years to come. It is very easy to maintain yourself and cheap to get quality Delco parts for at almost any parts store nationwide. Thousands on thousands of these cars are still on the road with negligible maintenance or upkeep with well into 100-200,000 miles on the clock and just keep on ticking. I don't see any of the 1994-later Cadillacs surviving nearly this well after so long.

For the record, I'm a Cadillac & LaSalle Club member of long standing and have had a plethora of these cars in my ownership as well as in my family going all the way back. I am also a collector vehicle parts vendor, enthusiast and mechanic so I know what's what with keeping my stuff A+ all the time. I love these cars and I know even these have a devoted following.

payment and shipping terms

Payment must be received in full within seven days of auction close without exception unless cleared with me in advance of your bid. Accepted forms of payment are cash on pickup or certified funds by mail in advance of your pickup - funds must clear before title or car will be relinquished. I use Bank of America, so if you are a B of A customer you may also wire funds directly into my account if you wish, this is a third option.

Shipping must occur within fourteen days of auction close without exception unless cleared with me in advance of your bid. I will be attending the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in Florida the second weekend in March so if at all possible I'd appreciate it if pickup could occur prior to Thursday, 12 March. If you plan on driving out, you'll need to secure tags as I will have my registration transferred over to another vehicle by that time. Otherwise I'll work with you or your transporter to the best of my ability or in an exceptional case have a friend help you with pickup should I still be away.
