2001 Dutchmen Zephyr Ultralite
16'(23') Hybrid Travel Trailer
We're upgrading and changing our camping and
trailering equipment, so unfortunately this GREAT camper has to go!
10-15,000 miles maximum towed by three responsible
owners, the last two a USAF fighter pilot and a classic car restorer and
racer who have maintained this unit like a million dollar airplane and a
valuable vintage race car! These pictures were taken last weekend at the
Heacock Gold Cup Historic Car Races at VIR near Danville, VA, where I was
serving a number of my customers and friends as their crew chief.
Hybrid trailers are the best compromise between
an inconvenient "pop-up" trailer and a full-size camper. Lightweight
fibreglass construction allows for flexibility when towing and TONS of usable
space when set up at the campsite!
The three-position awning can be rolled back
in, completely connected to the camper or set up for maximum usable space.
Great for helping to keep the inside cool as a cucumber.
When parked, the A/C provides great comfort.
When moving down the road, the Maxx-Air hood keeps cool air flowing inside.
It's 95F outside, and without even turning the
A/C all the way up...
... she's putting out very cold air and keeping
the fully-extended trailer nice and cool inside!
The small puddle below the right rear is from
the air-conditioner. Notice the levelling jacks in the rear, there are two
in the front as well to keep the camper perfectly level.
I put the rabbit-ear antenna outside hooked
up to the external cable TV connection since Virginia Intl. Raceway does
not yet have cable TV hookups in the paddock!
The front tent platform, emergency exit window,
storage bin with battery vent above it, water heater and furnace exhaust.
The front tent is spacions enough for us to
stow our queen-size bed inside it (we usually sleep in the lounge area when
we don't have additional company!)
We have found that our spare air mattress and
Swedish foam is as comfortable as our Kingsdown bed at home even here in
the camper! Nothing like as much of home away from home as possible.
The rear tent platform is our storage area.
We have the originally-equipped mattresses for front and rear should you
have more guests stay with you!
The spacious lounge area is a favourite spot
for racers to come in out of the incredible heat and enjoy a beer and a
sandwich between sessions on the track.
We keep the fridge fully stocked when we come
out to the track! Note the level in the refrigerator... even though we do
not usually use the Norcold fridge on propane, it is imperative that the
camper be completely level in order to use it in this fashion.
Just so you know, I will give you plenty of lessons on this on your pickup
of the camper, we'll go through hours of "pre-flight" training
if this is your first camper, I want you to enjoy it as we and our friends
have.
The three-burner range, stainless sink, Samsung
microwave and spacious cabinets hold more than we usually need to!
Built into the upper cabinet is a nice stereo
system with an auxiliary input, we hook the XM radio into it...
From the back corner of the lounge towards the
door, roof to ceiling.
The shelf above the refrigerator is perfect
for a television set. Note the tanks monitor on the side of the fridge.
Fresh and grey water tanks are over 20 gallons each, black water tank is
smaller, but to the Buy it Now purchaser, we also will give you a rolling
blackwater "Tote and Store" tank if you are far from regular campsite
hookups ($100+ at the camping stores!). Next to the Norcold fridge is a
large wardrobe, and next to that the head and shower.
The shower and head are comfortably large for
this size camper, it's unusual to find one this large.
There's nothing like a good shower after a gritty
day out in the heat!
The upper corners do not have any damage, the
photoshopped pictures just make it look that way. Note exhaust fan in roof
vent.
Underneath the head, the grey and black water
drain. We have all the extras to make this effortless for you as well.
A close-up of the microwave above the range
and range hood.
Inside the left front storage area (under the
lounge) is the battery box and tons of storage area!
Behind this, the water heater. It is not self-lighting,
so we use a grille lighter to light the pilot (right). The furnace, however,
is self-lighting, just flick a switch.
The right side storage area looking towards
the left side. I keep all the levelling, jacking and tow-sway stuff under
here when not in use.
The dual propane tanks will keep you going for
over a week of regular cooking, washing and heating if needed.
ok, you ask, why am I selling this??
I've got a large car hauler truck (not seen
here, I towed from Richmond to Danville with my Ford Ranger 4.0 V6, plenty
of vehicle for this) and this camper for going to the vintage races. Recently,
I realized I was not using my big car hauler regularly, and I just bought
a large enclosed car trailer from a friend with entirely too many of them
(he's a very esoteric collector!). Hence, with our increasing interest in
RV-ing, we are going to buy a large Class B or smaller Class C motorhome
to tow the enclosed trailer, or just go solo in the RV.
This was our first RV that we owned, and despite
some history with RVs in the family I needed a refresher course. This RV
not only cemented our desire to camp more but also re-familiarized me with
use, care and operation of the stuff which costs the average RVer over a
thousand dollars a year in maintenance et.c. It's easy work to keep one
of these in good nick at all times, and since this is one of the finest
hybrids made (sadly, no longer in this size to this level of quality!) it
is easy to care for and always something we can count on to be just as good
as the last time. Recently, I repacked the wheel bearings, checked the brakes,
resealed the front tent platform door and replaced the 3-4 year old battery.
I winterized and de-winterized the water system over the winter, greased
the jacks and more.
Included with the camper at any price is a sheaf
of documentation from the original purchase and "pre-flight" setup,
use and teardown instructions for optimal use of the camper, levelling jacks
and crank, awning bar and more.
You can come here, get the primer from me on
using this camper, and tow it away for enjoyment for years to come.

payment/pickup terms
Payment is due in full within seven days of
winning bid via certified funds or cash. Serious offers will be seriously
considered. Bid to own, no messing around, if you need financing, get it
together before you bid, please.
Regarding pickup, we can give you an extra week,
so within fourteen days of winning bid. For point of reference, this camper
has been towed behind a Nissan V6 minivan, a Nissan V8 pickup, my '93 Chevrolet
C3500HD Hodges car hauler (see my other auctions late in the week or over
the weekend if that's something else you're looking for!) and my '04 Ford
Ranger Edge with the 4.0 V6 with a great amount of ease. I highly, strongly
recommend a Class III hitch and that you acquire my or another load levelling
hitch setup to move this with, it will make your life that much easier.
But at minimum, you need a reasonably powerful vehicle capable of towing
this trailer, remember that it's light but that it does have a fair amount
of drag even with its aerodynamic design. If I can be of assistance to you
with this, please let me know how I can accomodate you!
BID WITH CONFIDENCE, SEE MY FEEDBACK AND OTHER
AUCTIONS!
