Tuesday
Sept 2
Tuesday, we begin our day early and travel across the body of water known as Hampton Roads, for which our Region was named, to the City of Hampton where we will visit The Virginia Air and Space Center.  NASA's research project began at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton and the seven original astronauts trained here. The beautiful Center with its soaring roofline houses exciting exhibits which tell the story of our exploration of space. Due to time restraints, you must choose whether you want to see the museum OR view the IMAX film.  A luncheon buffet at the Fort Monroe Officers' Club, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, will precede a visit to the Casemate Museum and driving tour of the original moat-enclosed fort. Wednesday
Sept 3
Downtown Norfolk will be our destination on Wednesday.  Here we will visit Nauticus, the National Maritime Center, and tour the USS Wisconsin.  We will then board the Spirit of Norfolk for a sumptuous buffet luncheon, followed by exciting live entertainment.  To top off the day, the cruise will include a tour of the Norfolk Naval Base.  Dinner on your own. Downtown Norfolk at night

Thursday
Sept 4
Up bright and early Thursday, to check out of the Cavalier, and head for the beautiful little town of Smithfield, Virginia - home of the famous Smithfield Hams.  This quaint "village" provides lots of interesting things to do and you will be free to roam about and take in the antique shops, museums, view the wonderful examples of 18th and 19th Century architecture and have lunch on your own at one of the myriad eating establishments.

In the early afternoon we will travel on to Surry County and cross the James River on the Ferry Boat.  From Jamestown Landing it's a short drive to our Williamsburg "home away from home," The Patrick Henry Inn.  You may choose any one of dozens of fine restaurants for your dinner this evening.  The historic area is located just across the street from our hotel.

Friday
Sept 5
We begin our final day of touring with a drive to Jamestown Settlement via the Colonial Parkway where we will tour a replica of the first permanent English settlement in the New World, established in May 1607.  This will be the site of a major celebration of the 400th Anniversary in 2007. After touring the Fort, the Indian village, and visiting the three ships (Godspeed, Discovery and the Susan Constant) we will return to Williamsburg for lunch at the famous King's Arms Tavern* (Meal info below) on Duke of Gloucester Street.

Following lunch, we will take an escorted walking tour of the historic area of Williamsburg followed by travel to Yorktown on the final leg of the Colonial Parkway.  We will have cassette tapes available for a driving tour of the battlefield where the last major battle of the War for Independence was fought.  If your car is not equipped with a tape player, you may rent one from the National Park Service visitor center, or better yet, bring a portable player with you on your trip!  We will return to our hotel after touring the battlefield and visiting "Surrender Field," site of the end of British Rule of the Colonies - just 20 miles from where it all began.

Friday night is free and you have the option of visiting Busch Gardens, or having a quiet dinner on your own before the big event tomorrow:  The Seventh Annual Hampton Roads Region's Cadillac LaSalle Meet.
